ADAS Diagnostics, Repairs, Programming and Calibrations

Modern vehicles rely on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to help prevent collisions, reduce injuries, and save lives. But these systems are only effective when precisely calibrated. Research shows that even a misalignment of just 1° can cause an ADAS sensor to miss a vehicle or pedestrian by several feet—potentially leading to system failure when it’s needed most.

At ADAS Calibration Centre Cairns, we follow OEM-specified procedures using dealer-level diagnostic tools and millimetre-accurate alignment systems. Whether it’s a forward-facing camera after a windscreen replacement or radar sensors disturbed in a minor accident, we recalibrate your vehicle to exact factory specifications—because “close enough” isn’t good enough for safety-critical systems.

ADAS Coverage

We can diagnose, repair and calibrate the following systems, and more!

Our capabilities are all encompassing and constantly expanding to keep up with technology, to keep you and your customers family safe.

Your Safety Is Not Optional…

And Neither Is Calibration!

Real-world studies have found that up to 75% of drivers experienced problems with their ADAS features after repairs when calibrations were skipped or done incorrectly. Common outcomes include:

  • No warning before a lane drift or crash

  • False alarms or emergency braking at the wrong time

  • Complete failure of automatic braking or lane assist systems

When you choose ADAS Calibration Centre Cairns, you’re choosing the region’s most advanced and trusted facility for accurate, compliant calibrations. We’re members of the EV & Hybrid Network, trained to work on high-voltage systems, and we don’t just calibrate—we verify, document, and stand by every result.

Programming

The majority of new components or modules need to be programmed or configured to suit the vehicle. We can assist and carry this out in-house for almost every make and model.  With access to a host of genuine tools and a multitude of aftermarket options, we’re sure to have the right solution  to get your vehicle back on the road as soon as possible.

The types of components / modules we can program include:

Our procedure ensures quality every time!

1. Liaise with Customer and Collect Vehicle

  • Description: Liaise with the partner repair shop to understand the details of all faults, repairs and collision information. We further identify all installed ADAS features (e.g., lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring), then bring the vehicle back to the workshop, assessing driveability and functionality on the way there

  • Purpose: Determine which systems require calibration based on the clients information and requests, along with vehicle’s performance on the drive back

2. Vehicle Intake & ADAS Assessment

  • Description: Upon receiving the vehicle into the workshop we conduct a basic check over of the basic features (lights, wipers, washers, mirrors, parking sensors, horn etc…), and then record the odometer reading and any specifics of the vehicle. We then photograph the vehicle and any warning lights present on entry.

  • Purpose: Record the condition of the vehicle on entry, and identify any other issues that are present, that may not have been identified on collection.

3. Pre-Scan Diagnostic Check

  • Description: Utilize diagnostic tools to perform a comprehensive scan of the vehicle’s electronic systems.

  • Purpose: Detect existing fault codes, assess the status of ADAS components, and establish a baseline before calibration. Additionally, we identify any other issues that the client may need to be aware of

4. Environmental Preparation

  • Description: Set up a controlled environment with adequate lighting, a level floor, and minimal reflective surfaces.

  • Purpose: Ensure optimal conditions for accurate calibration, as per manufacturer specifications.

5. Vehicle Preparation

  • Description: Verify that the vehicle’s tire pressures are correct, the suspension is at the proper height, and all sensors and cameras are clean and unobstructed.

  • Purpose: Ensure the vehicle is in the correct state for calibration, preventing inaccuracies due to physical misalignments.

6. Static Calibration Setup (if applicable)

  • Description: Position calibration targets and equipment according to OEM guidelines, ensuring precise distances and angles relative to the vehicle.

  • Purpose: Align sensors and cameras accurately in a stationary setting, typically required for systems like forward-facing cameras and radar sensors.

6. Dynamic Calibration (if applicable)

  • Description: Conduct on-road calibration procedures that involve driving the vehicle under specific conditions, such as certain speeds and road types.

  • Purpose: Calibrate systems that require real-world data inputs, like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist, ensuring they function correctly during actual driving conditions

7. Post-Calibration Verification

  • Description: Perform a second diagnostic scan to confirm that all ADAS components are functioning within manufacturer specifications.

  • Purpose: Validate the success of the calibration process and ensure no new fault codes have been introduced.

8. Road Test

  • Description: Test drive the vehicle to observe the performance of ADAS features in real-world conditions.

  • Purpose: Ensure that systems like automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control operate as intended.

9. Documentation & Reporting

  • Description: Generate a detailed report outlining the calibration procedures performed, including before-and-after diagnostic results and any adjustments made.

  • Purpose: Provide transparency to customers and maintain records for compliance and future reference.

10. Final Vehicle Delivery

  • Description: Return the vehicle to the  partnering repair shop, accompanied by the calibration report and any necessary explanations.

  • Purpose: Ensure the customer is informed about the work performed and confident in the safety and functionality of their vehicle’s ADAS features.
